Privacy Policy for NoSynth: AI Video Filter
Effective date: August 31, 2026
NoSynth: AI Video Filter is a browser extension designed to hide or block videos on YouTube that YouTube identifies as AI-generated or significantly altered with AI.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension processes, how that information is used, where it is stored, and whether it is shared with third parties.
1. Information processed by the extension
NoSynth processes only the information necessary to provide its core filtering functionality.
The extension may process:
- YouTube video identifiers (video IDs) displayed on YouTube pages.
- Public YouTube page content and page structure required to determine whether a video contains YouTube's altered or synthetic content disclosure.
- The URL of the YouTube video page being checked.
- The user's local extension settings, such as whether blocking is enabled or disabled.
- Locally cached detection results used to avoid repeatedly checking the same video.
The extension does not collect:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Postal addresses
- Telephone numbers
- Authentication credentials or passwords
- Financial or payment information
- Health information
- Precise location data
- Personal communications
- Form data
- User-generated content
- Advertising identifiers
2. How the information is used
The information processed by NoSynth is used exclusively to provide the user-facing functionality of the extension:
- identifying videos shown on YouTube pages;
- determining whether YouTube marks a video as altered or synthetic;
- hiding or blocking videos that match this disclosure;
- showing the number of blocked videos on the current YouTube page;
- remembering the user's blocking preference;
- reducing repeated network requests by using a local detection cache.
The information is not used for advertising, profiling, analytics, creditworthiness, marketing, or any unrelated purpose.
3. Network requests
To determine whether a video carries YouTube's altered or synthetic content disclosure, the extension may request the public YouTube watch page for that video.
These requests are sent directly from the user's browser to YouTube over HTTPS.
NoSynth does not send browsing information or detection results to the developer.
The extension does not use an external analytics service, telemetry service, advertising service, or developer-operated tracking server.
4. Local storage
NoSynth uses the browser's local extension storage to save:
- the user's filter enabled/disabled preference;
- locally cached video detection results;
- timestamps and cache-related technical information required to manage those cached results.
This data remains in the user's browser.
It is not transmitted to the developer.
Users can remove locally stored NoSynth data by:
- using the extension's cache-clearing function, where available;
- clearing extension storage through the browser;
- or uninstalling the extension.
5. Data sharing and disclosure
NoSynth does not sell user data.
NoSynth does not transfer user data to the developer.
NoSynth does not share user data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties.
The only network communication required for the extension's core functionality is communication with YouTube to retrieve public YouTube page information necessary for disclosure detection.
6. Human access to user data
The developer does not receive or manually review the user's browsing history, YouTube video history, detection cache, or other locally processed information.
7. Data retention
Detection results and extension preferences are stored locally in the user's browser for as long as required by the extension's functionality or until the user clears the data or uninstalls the extension.
No user browsing data is retained on developer-operated servers because NoSynth does not operate a server that receives this information.
8. Security
All network requests made by NoSynth are made using HTTPS.
The extension requests only the permissions required for its stated purpose.
Executable JavaScript and CSS used by NoSynth are included in the extension package. The extension does not download or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly code.
9. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
NoSynth's use and handling of information received from Chrome APIs and web pages complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In particular:
- user data is used only to provide or improve the extension's user-facing filtering functionality;
- user data is not transferred except as necessary to provide the extension's core functionality;
- user data is not used for personalized advertising;
- user data is not sold;
- user data is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes;
- humans do not read user data unless required for security, legal compliance, or another situation explicitly permitted by the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.
10. Children's privacy
NoSynth is not designed to collect personal information from children and does not intentionally collect personal information from users of any age.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the functionality of NoSynth changes or if legal or platform requirements change.
The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
